Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how the Google Chrome extension “Phone Number Hunter” (“the Extension”, “we”, “our”, “us”) handles information. We respect your privacy and aim to be transparent about how data is processed.
Overview
Phone Number Hunter helps you identify and collect phone numbers visible on web pages you visit. By default, processing occurs locally in your browser. We do not transmit, sell, or share phone numbers or browsing content to external servers unless you explicitly choose features that connect to third-party services or export data.
Information we collect
- On-device processing: The Extension scans the content of web pages you open in your browser to detect phone numbers. This content is processed locally and is not sent to us.
- User-selected data: If you save, export, or sync phone numbers, the Extension may store these locally via Chrome storage. Transmission occurs only when you opt in to export or connect a third-party service.
- Diagnostic data (optional): If you enable diagnostics or choose to send feedback, we may collect anonymized error logs and usage metrics to improve functionality.
How we use information
- Core functionality: Detect and display phone numbers found on pages you visit.
- User features: Let you copy, save, tag, filter, or export selected numbers.
- Improvements: With your consent, analyze anonymized diagnostics to fix bugs and enhance performance.
Permissions used by the extension
- activeTab: Access the current page’s content to detect phone numbers.
- storage: Store your preferences and any saved phone numbers on your device.
- contextMenus (optional): Provide quick actions (e.g., copy or save numbers) from the page context menu.
- scripting or tabs (if declared): Run content scripts to analyze page content strictly for number detection.
The Extension uses only the minimum permissions necessary. It does not read content from other tabs or windows unless you activate features on those pages.
Data storage and retention
- Local storage: Saved numbers, labels, and preferences are stored in Chrome’s local or synced storage on your devices.
- Retention: Data persists until you delete it, clear your browser data, or uninstall the Extension.
- User control: You can remove saved items from within the Extension and clear all data via Chrome settings.
Data sharing
- No sale of data: We do not sell your data.
- No unsolicited sharing: We do not share your data with third parties unless you explicitly export or connect a service.
- Legal compliance: We may disclose information if required by applicable law or valid legal process.
Third-party services
If you choose to integrate with external services (e.g., CRM systems or cloud storage), data will be sent only to
